In early August both Jason Clarke and Iain Brown attended an immersive training at the B&W Group North American Headquarters in North Reading, MA.  The training lasted two full days and included technical training, hands on training and incredible demonstrations.  Jason and Iain learned about the history and technology of all the B&W Group brands including Bowers & Wilkins, Rotel and Classe.  The discovered the importance of high performance audio and why it is important to their business and more importantly, to their customer’s lives.

Iain and Jason were also treated to some spectacular demonstrations including a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 800 Diamond speakers paired with a DB-1 subwoofer.  The system was powered by Classe amplifiers using a Classe CP-800 for control.

They listened to some unbelievable theater demonstrations on a variety of systems including the Panorama 2,the CI 600 series system, the CI700 series system, the CT 700 series system and the CI 800 series system.  The theater experience culminated in a demonstration of Bowers & Wilkins reference CT 800 system.  The system packs world class performance with concussive dynamics and incredible detail.

If that wasn’t enough, the guys got to learn hands-on setup of a stereo system, including how to properly voice a set of speakers.  They learned how easy it was to setup Airplay on a Bowers & Wilkins wireless music system.  They covered room design and the fundamentals of acoustics. Also, room calibration and parametric equalization are now a snap for Iain and Jason!

Perhaps the most important element of the two day training was the ability to meet with other audio and video system designers throughout the country.  Jason and Iain were able to share ideas with ideas with their peers and discover what is working well for others around the country.  There was plenty of time for roundtable discussions about the audio/video industry in general.

The training concluded with a demonstration of Bowers & Wilkins iconic Nautilus speakers.  The Nautilus speakers are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and still prove to be a stunning representation of how music reproduction should sound.  The speakers were powered by four Classe amplifiers, the brand new CAD200’s and controlled with a Classe CP-800.  Stunning and jaw-dropping were just a couple of the descriptions of the sound.  Just ask Jason or Iain, they will tell you themselves….
